Is spray tanning safe?

As one of the most practical alternatives to sunbathing and/or sun beds, it is incredibly safe. Not only does it eliminate your exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, but it can even improve the condition of the skin by moisturizing it.

Found as lotion, cream and professional spray on application it just stimulates cells in the uppermost layer of skin to darken. It does not contain a sun block, though, so you will need to apply this after your treatment.

How long will my spray tan last?

A good spray tan can last for five to ten days, but can fade significantly within that time. This is because your skin is regenerating and the cells that were treated with the spray tan will be gone within a week or so of the treatment.

How do tanning booths and beds work?

A lot of people don't realize that tanning beds and booths are exactly like sunbathing outdoors. They expose your skin to the UV or ultraviolet rays that cause your skin to darken. While there are some health benefits to exposure to UV rays, you also need to be careful you don't overdo it.

There are three varieties of UV light - UV-A, UV-B and UV-C. These are actually describing the "wavelengths" of the light. As you might guess, the UV-C rays are the most harmful because they are the "shortest" wavelengths and are what pass through the ozone layer.

The UV-A are the longest and actually work with the UV-B to tan the skin. That is why the lights you find in tanning beds are the UV-A and UV-B varieties. Combined like that, they allow you to tan much faster but also eliminate any threat of harmful rays. Of course, you always need to pay attention to the amount of time you spend tanning to prevent harm.

So, outdoor tanning is different than a tanning bed?

Yes and no. The process is the same, it is just that a tanning bed lets you have total control over your exposure to UV light. You control the amount of exposure and time, and can get tan faster and under much safer conditions as you have zero UV-C exposure.

How many sessions on a tanning bed does it take to get tan?

That really depends on a few things: your skin's sensitivity, natural skin tone and even moisture levels. Most of our tanners start to see a difference within three to five visits. It is always best to use a slow and gradual process as this gives you the longest lasting tan.

Do I wear a swimsuit when tanning?

The luxury of at-home tanning means you can wear a swimsuit or even sunbathe nude. However, before you rush to decide, remember that some areas of your skin have never had sun exposure. Because of that, you may want to cover up these delicate areas around 30% of the time you are tanning to establish a good base, and then increasing over time.

Will I still need sun screen?

As long as you are careful about your time spent in the tanning bed, you shouldn't need any SPF protection.

What is the weight limit on a tanning bed?

Most tanning beds have a limit around 275 lbs. and 300 lbs.

What sort of electrical supply is needed to use a tanning bed at home?

Each manufacturer is different, but a majority of tanning beds can plug straight into a standard wall outlet. Of course, they do use quite a bit of power when operating, and so you will want to ensure that the bed is the only thing using that outlet. You should also never use an extension cord or surge protector for a tanning bed's electrical supply.

Homes more than ten years old may also need special plug adapters (also called grounded outlets) that are readily available at most hardware stores.

Can I easily assemble the tanning bed on my own?

Fortunately, almost all tanning beds arrive nearly entirely assembled. Though they are often shipped in two separate boxes, those boxes are generally the top and bottom or upper and lower sections. To assemble, you just open the boxes, install the legs or feet and then put the upper and lower sections together and install the shocks. Most owners say it takes less than 20 minutes and requires no specialty tools.

Is there any sort of warranty?

Buying from an authorized dealer means you can expect full manufacturer warranties and policies for the product you purchased. You can also explore options by looking at a manufacturer's website for details. If you have any more questions feel free to contact us.

Recommended Guidelines for Using Tanning Beds:

  • Never rush tanning, and always follow your manufacturer's recommendations for tanning times.
  • Make a point of always wearing eye protection in the tanning bed
  • Those with skin conditions should speak with their doctor regarding the safety and/or advisability of using a tanning bed.
  • Pregnant women must always speak with their doctor about the safety and/or advisability of using a tanning bed.
  • Those using medications of any kind should always speak with their doctor about the safety and/or advisability of using a tanning bed, because certain medications can cause an increase in sensitivity to UV lights.

How long will it take to receive my shipment?

Depending on where you are in the U.S., delivery usually take 5-7 business days (please see our Shipping & Return Policy section for additional information)

Do you offer expedited shipping?

We can accommodate most shipping needs. Since our rates are agreed-upon with our carriers, anything out of the norm will likely incur a small increase in shipping costs. Expedited shipments can get to you in as little as two business days, depending on your location.

Is Free Shipping offered everywhere in the US?

Much as we strive to offer absolutely free shipping during our promotional periods, there are some locations where we cannot offer free shipping. These are usually states such as Hawaii and Alaska, but not limited to these, as well as locations with restricted access (ie islands, heavy metro areas), rural areas and neighborhoods, or locations which a carrier may deem remote or difficult to get to. If you feel you are in such a location, please feel free to contact us to make sure. We will still provide a credit for shipping in these instances. If you place an order and we find that you are in such an area, we will immediately contact you with all available options.

What happens after I place my order?

You will receive a notification that we have received your payment. Once your item has shipped, you will also receive an email notification with your tracking number.

Do you ship internationally?

No, at the present time we do not.

Do you sell used equipment or have equipment for rent?

All of our items are brand new with full manufacturer warranties, as we are an approved & licensed dealer based in Miami. We do not have any items for rent.

What does curbside delivery include?

For curbside deliveries, which is the default for all orders, the delivery driver will pull up to the delivery address, open the gate to his truck, and allow you to remove the item from the truck. It is recommended that multiple people lift the item from the truck together, as many of our items are several hundred pounds. If you are unable to remove the item from the truck, an upcharge may be added for use of a lift gate.

If you know you won't be able to remove the item without a liftgate, see below.

How do I add a liftgate?

When you add an item to your cart and checkout, you will be given the choice to Add Liftgate Service.

If you are ordering multiple units (usually 3+), or items from different manufacturers, it may be necessary to use the liftgate more than once. The reason for this being that some items ship from multiple warehouses using different carriers. We will promptly let you know if this is case.

What is Front Door/Garage Delivery?

When this service is requested on a shipment going to a business, the carrier will take the freight into the storefront for delivery. On a residential delivery, the carrier will take the shipment onto the property, or into the garage of the residence. They will not necessarily deliver inside the front door, but rather at the front door. Please note this is the case with any shipment from any company and is a carrier policy, not our own.

When a driver delivers to a specific room in a house or business (for example a basement or 2nd floor), the requested service is known as White Glove service. Since this is very time consuming, only specific shipping companies offer white glove service. If you require white glove service, please let us know.

Not all white glove quotes will be the same, since not all home deliveries are the same. Number of stairs, corridors, etc may require a different quote and we will let you know if this is the case.

Thank you for visiting Spray & Sun and we look forward to helping you!
